J.C. Penney Photos
J.C. Penney Co., the third anchor, opened
shortly after the mall's grand opening in 1971.
Penney's offered a 240,466 square-foot store
that was nine times larger than the old
Penney's in downtown Waukegan.   J.C.
Penney's departure from the mall in early 1998
left the rapidly sinking Lakehurst gasping for
survival.

These photographs, taken after the store's
closure, show the north entrance (above left),
the south entrance (above right), and the east
entrance (left).
