I remember the smell of Cinnabon. The cold refreshing taste of Orange Julius. The blast we always had at Alladins Castle. And
we always had to stop next door and grab a pretzel at Hot Sams. Camelot, Wilsons, Oh and the gift tree was the best place to
get your rock t-shirts and cheap silver jewelry. This list could go on and on. I loved Lakehurst and would prefer it anyday to
Gurnee Mills if it were still standing. It is definitly a place that is missed along with a lot of childhood memories.

I remember as a kid and then teenager that it was the in place to go. I had alot of fun with my friends there. Did alot of teen
shopping and eating. I will surely miss the building being there, but I can understand why. As an adult I once went back(after
moving back into the area) and there was really nothing left. What a shame it was, there was so much activity and entertainment
that gave you a good feeling when it was a booming place. So meny good things seem to be disappearing all the time these
days.

I remember when it was the "in" thing to go to the mall and walk around with your friends. That was the first place that I did my
Christmas shopping. I think that it is a shame that it ended like it did. Goodbye to all that happened there. Never will forget the
memories that we all got there.

Lakehurst mall was the first mall that I had ever shopped at in my entire life. My family took many Christmas shopping
expeditions at Lakehurst to gather all of the presents to be distributed to our family members. My Mother worked at Carson Pirie
Scott for quite a while too. It is sad to see so many memories demolished. I hope that what they build there to replace it can
compare.

For a Navy family, having just transferred from Norfolk Va., one of the first places we were told about was Lakehurst Mall. As far
back as I can remember, Lakehurst was the first time I had ever seen a "shopping center". Most of my experiences with
shopping was at the Navy Exchange on base. There were many a weekend spent browsing thru the various stores and simply
window shopping. Money was tight for our little family as I'm sure it was for many others, still there's nothing wrong wishing. Even
for a 4th grade girl, the mall was easy to navigate. My mother would know, if I was anywhere to be found it would be in
Waldonbooks. My sisters', favorite were the record stores, and mom's was Joanne Fabrics. For us children, Christmas was
especially wonderful, with our annual trek to Santa's workshop display and a visit the jolly elf himself. I have always loved
Christmas and how the shopping malls deck themselves out, but for some reason Lakehurst stands out most in my mind as
being the most beautifully decorated. I was sorry to see such a wonderful building go, but my memories will be treasured for a
long time to come.

I remember a most interesting restaurant located at the mall. It was called something like "My sister's restaurant" For a set price,
you could eat as much as you desired from the buffet (as I remember it). The food was lavish with a wondeful selection. My most
vivid memory, of the one time I visited the restaurant,is of a very full, crowded, busy atmosphere. There were many sailors
(presumeably from Great Lakes Naval Station),and I couldn't help but notice that they filled their plates again & again with the
most choice selections. My last mental picture is of two servicemen heaping their plates with incredibly large perfect red
strawberries, something chocolate, & mounds of whipped cream. (incidentally it was winter!) The remarks I made to my
companions when leaving were, "I don't see how this restaurant can make any money with this food and the price they are
charging. This proved to be true, as the restaurant was short lived. I would like to know if anyone else! remembers this restaurant
located in LAKEHURST MALL. This is a most interesting site. I am going to tell others that worked and shopped there about
this nostalgic memory evoking experience. Please keep it up. Many thanks, Dorothy

As a child, I remember Lakehurst Mall a wonderful place to be, whether you we're spending money or not. That mall was a haven
for North Chicagoians to shop and eat. I remember "Orange Julius" and "Pono's Pizza" oh so well. I was always in my favorite
stores "Nucci's" and "Chess King".......as a matter of fact I had to get a job at "Chess King" as a teenager, so I could keep up
with the latest styles of the eighties. I had my first date at Lakehurst.....I was 14 and we just hung out on the upper level, where the
brown railings were, over-looking Centre Court and just talked. It was so sad to see the demolition of this once-great mall. To
this day, I tell my children of the wonderful memories I have of this place.........Rest in Peace Lakehurst!!!!!

I used to work in the foundations department at Weiboldt's. I had wonderful ties at Lakehurst.

For the restaurant section: Wieboldt's had a cafeteria on the lower-level near the east entrance.

Orange Julius!! and Karmelkorn!! Oh, I loved those 2 stores as a kid. Grab a hotdog and some oj, Orange Julius style ofcorse,
then hit Karmelkorn for a nice warm sticky bag of carmel corn that would cover my hands in carmel sugar. Then going through
the stores touching everything and getting the merchandise sticky as well. =)

I can't think of a better place to post this than here: does anyone have a recording of the Belvidere Bules rap from the old
commercials. When I think Lakehurst that is the first thing that comes to mind.
