What a great site. You have no idea how many people will appreciate this!! I have sent it on to MANY!! I remember the days of
Lakehurst all to well. What a great time, hanging out with friends, Great Hamburgers at Athens (though the meat turning in the
window for the Gyros really grossed me out) Alladins Castle was the best. My earliest memory would have to be when my mom
took me there when I was pretty young and they had a bird (I think it was black?) in a cage outside of the pet shop named
Virgil... I always looked forward to going to see if we could get him to say "hello". Or sitting on the edge around the fountian
having Orange Julius and KarmelKorn. MMMMMMM.... My favorite stores were Deb, Foxmoor and Jokers Wild. I really miss
those days. Gurnee Mills will never take the place of Lakehurst that is for sure. It is so nice to see that so many people have such
great memories of "OUR MALL".

Before getting my license I had to figure out the bus schedule so I could get to the mail and hangout with friends. One of my jobs
as a teenager growing up was at the new MR Steak across the street. I was part of the original crew hired when they first
opened. Ahhh...life goes on and we get older.

Cheerleading competitions and the rivalry between Zion-Benton and Warren! Absolutely the place to go as a teenager to hang
out. Very cool site!

This made my day-thanks to all for the read.Scotty the Christmas Tree, Betty from Betty of Winnetka. The escalators- remember
everyone would gather at the top to see people come up (or sit at Slicers)the down escalator-working at Merry go Round we
would stand and watch for friends to come down. Now a days you can't even lean on the rails in our mall down here. We would
lean for hours..When I come home I still drive down rt 120 and think of such great times. Wasn't there a "purple" entrance?

The mall has special memories for me. I met my future wife while both of us were working at J.C.Penney. I was 20 years old and
she was 18. We both were hired to stock the store prior to it's opening. Three kids and 34 years later we're still happily married
and both of us miss the mall but cherish the memories.

I worked at Carson Pirie Scott from the time I turned 16 until it finally closed. I worked just about every department in the store
from shoes to childrens, and I miss all the wonderful people I met there. Most importantly, though, I will miss Carson's because
that is where I met my husband, Joel. When demolition started, I cried every time that I drove past the mall.

Wow....where do I begin? I have soooo many memories of Lakehurst . I worked at Cooper's Watchworld, GiGi's, Carson Pirie
Scott, Afterthoughts .I remember the crew at Just Pants: Jose, Jerry, Connie and Rosie. Someone mentioned the security guard
with the mustache that looked like motorcycle handle bars. I remembered having lunch at the restaurant located on the lower
level by the escalator (i forgot the name) No one will ever forget Hot Sam, the place they sold corn dogs, Cinnabon and of
course Athens Gyros!!!!!!!!! They had the best food!!!!! Then you had Chess King, Foxxmoor, so many more that I can't quite
remember the names. Then there was County Seat, Marianne's, Belvidere Blues, and of course Aladdin's Castle. I miss this
mall so much but at least we all have our memories. I even worked in the most boring store in Lakehurst ; in my opinion....it was
The Naturalizer!!!!!!!!

friends , shopping, and sometimes even walking around, sitting by the fountain and enjoying icecream at the bresler's 33 flavors,
i was so sad to see it go.

in high school if it was too far until pay day, we ate at orange julius. I saw one the other day, and that was the first thing taht came
to me, affectionately known as the greese pit of lakehurst. i started at wieboldt's when i was 16, and left a little while before the
store closed. We were like family there. it is amazing at how many good friendships came out of there, and through the years,
some of us still stay in touch. Remember the first wieboldt and jc penny bowling league? Or how about the poor soles who got
stuck in the store inventory night becuase of a blizzard? I was lucky, my brother had one of the original four wheel drive blazars,i
made it home that night. hello to all my old friends at wieboldts. It was the best.

I got my first job at Lakehurst working at Cinnabon- that was work!! I also worked at Trade Secret, Merry Go Round, and just
about every other store there. I entered a couple of Miss Waukegan pageants and was part of cheerleading competitions at
Lakehurst. I would get dressed up in my Jordach pink and purple pinstripped jeans and white ankle shoe boots and "go to
mall".Yeah I thought I was way too cute then! I'm glad they're aren't photos to actually document my "fashion sense". I can't
believe it's actually gone!! Just like my white ankle boots and pinstripped jordach jeans - thank god for that! :-)

I recall the excitement of opening day, the design and uniqueness of the major stores as well as the mall itself. It was the mall
that made Waukegan proud and it was very shopper friendly. My friends and I were among the first employees at the Carson
Pirie Scott store and were lucky enough to be among the store's first in-house fashion models. I remember the cute restaurant
inside Carson's and it's Breakfast with Santa during Christmas. I also remember Carson's special breakfast events with child
stars such as Brandon Cruz from the Courtship of Eddie's Father TV show. The Lakehurst Mall holds fond memories of my teen
years in Waukegan and Waukegan at its best.
